Thames Kiss

GXR A12-M, f5.6, 1/1070, ISO 200, RAW, 53mm (Voigtlander Nokton f1.2 35mm)

Took this during my usual lunch walks, the weather was very nice.

Converted and processed this picture from the DNG file using Photo Mate plus RAW plug in on the Nexus 7. It works really well and I can fully recommend this setup for anyone wanting to travel light for a short trip or simply have a good option during a normal working day.

  1. Great capture Cristian. Perfect timing! I was looking at the Nexus 7 as a walk around tablet. Is it easy to transfer photos? do you use an eye-fi card or can you plug a card reader in to it?

  2. Thanks for your comment James!

The Nexus 7 is a great walk around tablet but make sure you get the 32GB model.
Transferring photos is very easy with the 'Nexus Media Importer' app but you can only copy to the Nexus 7 and not from it with this.
To copy to and from it you need to root the device and use Stickmount then can use any file manager to browse the files.
I use a simple USB OTG cable to connect a USB cable attached to the GXR but have used SD card readers attached to the USB OTG cable before until I broke my last SD card reader.

  3. Ive always been a little nervous about rooting phones etc. I have been advised to do it on my Samsung Note 2 for a few useful reasons.

  4. Bill, not sure on Android you really need to root a phone unless you have to get the one or other feature which is not available by default. You can also always un-root and restore it back to default if needed.
With the Nexus 7 it's just if you want to transfer files to an external device rather than just to the internal memory.

The Galaxy Note 2 is a very nice device and I was very tempted to get one.
