The Man with the Blue Gloves

GR, f6.3, 1/320, ISO 200, RAW
One photo that doesn't focus just on the blue theme but it's still present.
I took it while walking back from lunch and did like the light in the station.

Dancing in Blue

GR, f2.8, 1/125, ISO 100, RAW
Been a rainy start to the morning and with the grey skies there wasn't that much blue around to take photos of. During a quick lunchtime walk, I walked through Spitalfields market and saw people dancing. This was a good opportunity to take some photos and I did get something blue in front of my lens.
The weather cleared up and after work I had plenty of opportunity to take photos of something blue.

Blue Ice Cream

GR, f6.3, 1/320, ISO 125, RAW
I happened to come by this guy during my usual lunchtime walk. I wasn't quite in the right place to get the shot but do like it.

Blue and Orange

GR, f8.0, 1/125, ISO 100, RAW
A busy day at work so didn't get to take many photos but took this on my way to work. They had this car on display although it was pretty much hidden away and most people walked past.

In a Sea of Blue

OPO, f2.4, 1/148, ISO 100, RAW
Been a grey and rainy day so I took it easy but did go for a walk and to take some photos with my OnePlus One phone. I ended up mostly with colorful flower photos but it's the nice thing about spring here and a nice contrast to the grey skies today.

I took this photo as RAW in camera, edited it on the OnePlus One with Photo Mate but did post it from my Surface. This time I didn't use Snapseed to process it, although the new version of it is really good.

Training

R-D1, f8.0, 1/446, ISO 200, RAW, 42mm (Ricoh GR f2.8 28mm LTM)
I met with Kesh and Tom at Camera Cafe for a chat and to take some photos around. While photography ended up being a smaller part than anticipated it was still fun.
Since I haven't used it in a while and it fitted well for Camera Cafe I decided to take the Epson R-D1 along with the Ricoh GR lens.

Clouds

GRD, f9.0, 1/1600, ISO 400, JPG b&w
I liked the clouds this morning when getting to London Bridge so the Shard made for a nice enough backdrop although I usually ignore it.

Wall of Graffiti

GRD, f5.6, 1/400, ISO 400, JPG
Unusual for me but a color photo from the GRD I, taken in the most densely graffiti covered area in London around Shoreditch and Brick Lane. While the GRD I is best for black and white photography, the color images are also quite unique and different.

Passing By

GRD, f7.1, 1/800, ISO 400, JPG b&w
Overall not a great day for photography, took only a handful of photos and I ended up deleting most of them. Just didn't see enough of interest today.

Tuesday 21 April 2015

Street Reflection

GRD, f5.6, 1/500, ISO 400, JPG b&w
I like reflections, always great for photography especially when the sun is out causing even more reflections. All the glass buildings reflect the sun and surrounding buildings off of each other so it's very nice.

Sign

GRD, f9.0, 1/1250, ISO 400, JPG b&w
Another nice and sunny day so great for a walk during my lunch. It's nice to be next to Brick Lane and Shoreditch as it alolows to escape the City and go to a different area in just a few minutes.

Viewpoints

GRD I, f2.4, 1/50, ISO 400, JPG b&w
Met some friends for a walk and a mini pub crawl along the Southbank today. I decided to take the GRD I with me although it was not to do much photography. We decided to get some culture in and went for a stroll along the Tate Modern.
The building is certainly way more impressive than the art, which for most part shows that you can get away with presenting anything as art as long as you convince someone hat it is or here is a deeper meaning to it.

Brookwood Walk

A nice day and a very good reason to get out of London. There was a meetup walk in Brookwod so I took the GRD I with the 21mm lens along for the walk.

This was not really a photography meetup so the walk was quite brisk, too brisk at times but I still had time to take some photos along the way and enjoy the scenery.

The walk started at Brookwood cemetery, which as I found out had it's own train line from London Waterloo.

It lead across fields, through some woodlands and farms back to Brookwood.

The group was quite large and it was a nice walk but the pace was a bit too fast to really enjoy the scenery properly.

Different Neighbours

GR, f8.0, 1/180, ISO 100, RAW
The Lloyd's building is pretty cool, I like industrial designs so this building is prefect for me. It does stand out in between all the glass buildings that seem to be quite popular now but look a bit boring.

Thursday 16 April 2015

The Tower

GR, f8.0, 1/250, ISO 100, RAW
While not as nice and warm as yesterday it's still been nice to walk around during lunch and take some photos.  Another architecture photo from London to get a bit of a break from people photos.

Wednesday 15 April 2015

Walk the Dog

GR, f6.3, 1/320, ISO 100, RAW
Another great and sunny day in London so I made the most out of it during my lunch break and headed to Brick Lane and a park there to enjoy the sunshine away from all the City people but in between all the hipsters and vintage fans.

Tuesday 14 April 2015

Shootout

GR, f6.3, 1/320, ISO 100, RAW
Another nice and sunny day in London and not necessary a day where you want to be in the office, still I did enjoy my lunch at the Barbican and a nice walk to London Bridge after work.
Having the GR is great, a really capable camera in a very small package so it's excellent to carry around every day. It was the same with the GRDs but due to the APS sensor of the GR, there's even less reason to be looking for any other camera.

Monday 13 April 2015

1 London Bridge

GR, f8.0, 1/125, ISO 100, RAW
Back at work and London after the day out yesterday but it wasn't too bad overall and the nice sunshine late in the afternoon helped on the way home.
I took a few photos of this building and always try to do more with the reflections but I do like this photo.

Seaford & The Seven Sisters

I haven't really been out of London in the past months so when I saw the nice weather today, I decided to got for a day trip somewhere.

Getting out of London and somewhere that feels like you're out of London always takes time so the quickest and easiest for me to get to was Brighton. Since I've been to Brighton and it's not hat exciting anymore, I looked for anything else around there.

In the end my decision fell on Seaford and a hike along the cliffs to the Seven Sisters.

While the weather was nice and sunny and quite warm in the sun, the strong and slightly chilly wind by the coast meant I was glad to have my jacket with me.

Seaford itself is not very exciting and from Brighton you have to take one of the crappy and quite dirty Southern trains. Still, once you're at the seafront and go hiking along the cliffs it's worth it and makes for a very nice day out with some nice views.

Fountain

GXR A12-M, f8.0, 1/320, ISO 200, RAW, 42mm (Ricoh GR f2.8 28mm LTM)
After a rather grey and rainy start to the day it cleared up and the sun came out, I had to edit some photos but did head out afterwards.
Since I didn't plan on going anywhere in particular, I decided to just go for a wander around More London and along the Thames to Blackfriars.

Friday 10 April 2015

Man in Orange

GR, f8.0, 1/320, ISO 100, RAW
Another nice and sunny day, the light was very good when I walked out of London Bridge station due to the low sun. I liked the bright orange colour and the shadows  when walking past.

Thursday 9 April 2015

Foggy Morning

GR, f8.0, 1/250, ISO 100, RAW
The day started with a lot of fog but it turned out to be a very nice and sunny day in the afternoon. Still, the fog did make the walk across London Bridge a bit more atmospheric and a change from the usual.

Wednesday 8 April 2015

City Morning

GR, f8.0, 1/250, ISO 100, RAW
My train got cancelled and I ended up taking a different train so, I found myself near the One New Change building. Since I had some time to spare, I went to the rooftop terrace to escape the people on the street and get a nicer view of London in the morning.

Tuesday 7 April 2015

Walking Through the Market

GR, f6.3, 1/320, ISO 1000, RAW
Back to work after the long weekend and back to using the GR again, the phone is just not very practical in every day use and the GR just has much better image quality.
The weather has been great and the sunshine made some places nicer and more interesting in the morning on my way to work.

Monday 6 April 2015

Bird Watching

OnePlus One, f2.0, 1/562, ISO 100, JPG
Another nice and sunny day in London, quite unusual for a bank holiday but much appreciated. I didn't quite plan what to do so just ended up going to Hyde Park, a park I don't relay like and usually avoid (like the whole area around it).
Still, it was actually quite nice for a change to go there and while I had my GR with me, my photography got done with the OnePlus One again.

Sunday 5 April 2015

Springtime

OnePlus One, f2.0, 1/1783, ISO 100, RAW
You might have wondered why there were no posts for the past week. After not feeling very inspired, I needed a break from photography so during the past week I have hardly taken any photos.
I did miss the daily posting though so I think this is not something I want to give up fully but I am thinking to maybe only post when there is something to post. I am not quite decided on that yet so will see how it goes over the next week.

Thanks to the low Euro and me being fed up with the crappy battery life of my Nexus 5, I decided to get another phone. Since I would never again want to spend more for a phone than for a computer, I decided to go for the OnePlus One phone.

The phone is great for the price and the built in camera app might be crappy (so I replaced it with the Google one) but it does offer RAW capture. Curious as I am and having nothing better to do on a sunny Sunday afternoon, I took my phone with me and headed to the park.

I took some comparison photos with the different camera apps and looked at he RAW files and have to say, the JPGs are pretty rubbish with sharpening artefacts and weird contrast levels but the RAW flesh are actually pretty decent.
