Tower Bridge

GXR, f6.3, 1/570, ISO 200, JPG, 50mm

Just some fun with the color modes of the GXR. It is great that Ricoh offers this much customization as it allows for some interesting effects, shame this is burried so deep into the menu system to be more usable.

  1. I am not sure what you did but I think this is a fantastic photo, razor sharp and great tones and color. Nice work!

  2. Looks a bit like a Ralph McQuarrie painting (he did pre-production paintings for THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK and other Star Wars movies).

  3. It's an interesting angle and color is fabulous. What is your color setting may be I can learn from and try it on my GXR.

  4. Thanks for your comments!

Bruce, the GXR has great image quality and an excellent lens.

Mark, I am a big fan of the Ralph McQuarrie paintings from the Star Wars movies. While I did not think of him while taking this picture I am glad it reminds you of his work.

Muddy, I have been using Vividness at 7, Contrast at 9. Under the Individual Color Settings I have used for Hue: Orange 1, rest 5, for Vividness: Orange 1, Greens 1, Blues 9, Reds 9 and Magents 1.

  5. How do you find Ricoh's current menu system? I hear both the GXR and GRD III are much more complicated.

Does Ricoh need to revisit it?

  6. A lovely shot.

It is always the mark of a good photgrapher when a much-photographed subject is presented in such a refreshing manner.

  7. Mark, I think Ricoh has the best menu system out of every manufacturer and I really miss the simplicity and customization options it allows on the GF1.
One thing Ricoh need to fix however is to allow easier and faster access to change the aspect ratio as this is more important than changing the JPG image size.

    Thanks for your comment Calvin!
I try to stay away from photographing any of London's landmarks unless I can try and get soemthing different.
