Guy in White

GRD, f5.6, 1/500, ISO 400, JPG b&w

Took this picture after work on my way to the cinema. I saw this guy from further away and knew it would make a great picture. I did take a few pictures around but this is the best, unfortunately I did not realize the people in the background walking into the picture. They are not too distracting but I think without them it would have been much better. I should have waited loger and retake the picture.

  1. I find taking such a picture (with the main subject dressed predominately in white) a challenge. But you pulled it off. It is annoying when someone walks into a shot.

  3. Thanks for your comments!

Yesbuts, I think b&w and a bit of high contrast or curves adjustment work quite well, I have also added some vignetting to make the white stand out even more.

James, I was standing in front of him fo a while looking around and had my camera in my hand. He was aware of me being there but not of taking the picture.

  4. Great shot and love the grain. What do you use for PP? I just found an amazing free app called virtualStudio that compliments the GRD's BW shooting capabilities and even adds more 'natural' BW grain to my images :)

Also, I almost prefer the people in the background on this shot. It gives it more of a street feel and less staged looking. Love it!

  5. Thanks for your comment David!
For post processing I use Photoshop but find that with the GRD I there is not much to do and only even change the contrast or maybe add some USM. Thanks for the tip with virtualStudio, I will have a look at it, it sounds very good and I like grain/noise in my pictures.
