Waiting for Another Train

iPhone 4, f2.8, 1/15, ISO 125, JPG, Hipstamatic App

It feels like in recent weeks all I have done is spend time at train stations or airports and in some ways this is not too far off.
This is the reason why I decided to actually post a photo from a train station.

A16 Zoom First impressions

Today, I got a sample of the new GXR A16 Zoom module. It is a 'kit-lens' module for the GXR sporting a 24-85mm lens and a 16MP APS sensor without AA filter, unfortunately the lens is not very bright at f3.5-5.5 and the APS sensor only has a max. ISO of 3200.

Still, let's look at how it actually performs since specs alone are meaningless in actual real world use.

This is just a first hand impression and I have simply taken pictures with it so it will not be very analytical.

Walk in Düsseldorf

After being inside at Photokina for the last two dazs it was good to get out and get some air so Düsseldorf seemed like the best place. Here is a small series from the walk all taken with the Ricoh GXR and A12 50mm module.

Street Photography Workshop

Today, was the day for my street photography workshop at Foto Koch in Düsseldorf. It was a great opportunity and something I have been looking forward to.

It was a small group of 7 people so made the workshop pretty relaxed. We went over a short presentation I prepared, then had a chat about street photography before we looked over a few of my pictures.
Before breaking for lunch, I set an assignment to go out and take pictures. The day was perfect for street photography with not just the weather being great with lots of people out in the Altstadt but also with the Japanese Days festival taking place. The fastival was great and I was really surprised to see how many people dressed up and were having a great time.
After lunch everyone submitted two of their best pictures so we could discuss them in the group. This was very interesting to hear everybody's comments to the pictures.

The day was great fun but went over too fast so I hope to do this workshop again in the future.

Curves

GXR, f7.1, 1/620, ISO 200, JPG, 50mm

After not having much time to take pictures with the GXR, I could take it out longer today. The image quality is very good and the bigger sensor sure helps with the dynamic range.
