Goodwood Festival of Speed 2013

Before heading to Harwich to take the ferry to Holland, I had tickets for the first day of the Goodwood Festival of Speed in Chichester.

It was great fun but I would have needed a lot more time to see everything and have enough time for some proper photography, it was all a bit rushed in a way. It was still worth going though and the weather has been great.

I used the GR with 21mm adapter mostly but removed the adapter at times to get a bit closer, here the GXR with Leica 90mm would have probably been the better choice. to take some pictures of the cars on the track.

Hang In There

GR, f9.0, 1/320, ISO 100, RAW, 21mm

Received my 21mm adapter and went out for a walk to take pictures and see how it works. It works really well, although this picture is probably not the best to showcase this.

There are some problems, in mainly Ricoh cutting corners and not having the GR auto-detect the adapter as the previous GRDs have done. This is very frustrating as you constantly have to go into the menu and manually switch the adapter on and off once you remove it. Not a huge issue as te only thing that changed is the EXIF data but annoying nonetheless and unnecessary as Ricoh had it working fine before.

The quality however is very good and the adapter is actually smaller and lighter than I thought and not all that much bigger than the GW-2 adapter.

More pictures and impressions in the coming days.

After Wimbledon

GR, f8.0, 1/250, ISO 100, JPG

Took this while out enjoying the sun in Greenwich park. Wimbledon is over now but at least the British had something to celebrate.

A Day in Black and White

Another great and sunny day in London. Not very good light for photography though so I decided to shoot in b&w.

This is a series of some b&w street photography.

Day in Brighton

Spent the day in Brighton walking around and having a few drinks by the beach. Took my GR with me but swapped it put for Tom's GXR A12-M so he can see how the GR works and I felt like using the GXR again.
I have to say that although the GR is much faster, has a better sensor and is really small and light, there is something about using M lenses on the GXR but both cameras complement each other very well.

Sunglases

Phones and Tablets

Phones and tablets are everywhere round and people use them wherever they are, only seldom distracted by something else. This is a series taken with the GR of people using pones or tablets.

View over London

GR, f5.6, 1/200, ISO 100, RAW

Took this while put for a walk around Greenwich today. The weather was not great and mostly grey skies but at least the clouds were quite interesting.
Liked this picture most since it has a human element in there and is a different view of London from what most people see or even I photograph while taking pictures around Greenwich.

Cinema

GR, f5.0, 1/2, ISO 1600, RAW

While in the cinema and waiting for the movie to start, I liked how the screen looked and decided to take a picture. The nice thing about being able to go earlier in the day to the cinema is that it's pretty empty so you feel like it's your own personal screening.

We are Fashion

GR, f6.3, 1/250, ISO 400, JPG

Took this while out shopping at Westfield in Stratford, I greatly dislike shopping centres but at times they can't be avoided so I try to make it quick and painless.

Hughenden to Brandenham

The weather has been great again and I decided to make use of my National Trust membership before it expires so took the train to High Wycombe and went hiking to Hughenden Manor and afterwards to Brandenham.

This is a series of some pictures I took at the different places and along the way, with exception of the last all are JPGs taken with the GR, the last is a RAW conversion but without much processing.

Thanks to the macro mode and the great high ISO quality the GR is very versatile and works great as the only camera for a trip. It's also very small and light and can be carried in a jeans pocket if needed, although it should really be in your hand because it won't take pictures in the pocket. ;)

Sitting on One Tree Hill

GR, f6.3, 1/650, ISO 100, RAW

The weather has been great today. Went for a walk around Greenwich and Blackheath but was not hugely inspired so did not take that many pictures, this is one of the first pictures I took.

Dog Day Afternoon

GR, f6.3, 1/250, ISO 400, RAW

Took this while walking through the park, been a grey and rainy day here so the sad expression on the dogs face was certainly fitting.

More London People

Some more street photography with the GR around London after going to another embassy for a visa.
I enjoy using the GR a lot and after customising it initially, it just works and never gets in the way.
