TH.2058
Today I have a series on the new exhibition in the Tate Modern, you might remember my 'The Hangar' post with the teaser for this. It's called TH.2058 by Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster, for more details go here. It is quite interesting and worth a visit even if you, like me, are not a huge fan of modern art.
You can see more pictures on Yesbut's Weblog, he went there on the same day but in the morning.
All pictures are taken in JPG with the GRD I and the 40mm and 21mm lens at ISO 400 and are unprocessed. I really like the images the GRD I produces at ISO 400 and don't mind the noise at all.

Hi Cristi
ReplyDeleteThanks for the mention.
After visiting the exhibition I realised the installation consists mainly of other works of art. So is Henry Moore's Sheep Piece still a sculpture by Moore or has it been subsumed into TH.2005?
Would it be legitimate for me to take a photograph of one of your photographs and call it my work?
I guess posing questions is one of the objectives of modern art.
Irrespective of the installation, I think the Turbine Hall is a wonderful space.
Final thought - instead of the large screen showing the "Last Film", they should have my favourite Unilever installation Olafur Eliasson's "The Weather Project"
This series is very interesting and the first photograph is very good.
ReplyDeleteThe photographs look remarkable at ISO 400, better than the GX200. I can only come close when I really nail the exposure right.
Cristi and Yesbuts: this parallel existence of you two is really funny! :)
ReplyDeleteThere is indeed a photographer who is famous for taking photographs of other photographs (or advertising, I´m not so sure, nor do I remember his same... damn). Everything is possible in art economy! ;)
Yesbuts, this is indeed an interesting question you raise. Can you just copy a work of art and claim it to be yours? It would obviously be your "work" but would it be a homage or just a blatant copy?
ReplyDeleteThe Turbine Hall is great, I really like it, great place but somehow I wish there would be more remains of the turbines.
Thanks Wouter, the noise is very good and I don't understand why the GRD I got bad reviews because of the noise. For me the noise is one of the best parts of the camera.
Dlc, you are right, everything is possible these days.
As for our parallel existence, the funny thing is that although we take pictures in the same parts of London we did not meet as we are always in the same places but at different times.
