Day 257 - From Fukuoka to Shinjuku
I woke up to the view of the tower in Fukuoka harbor and rain, lots of rain. It was a nice enough journey on the ferry, I slept quite well on the tatami mat so wasn't too tired and decide to brave the rain and go out to take some photos.

Red Wall
GF1, f0.95, 1/25, ISO 100, RAW, 50mm (Voigtlander Nokton f0.95 25mm)
I just love the Nokton lens for m4/3 and it is together with the 7-14mm lens the only reason for me at the moment to keep the GF1 or keep m4/3. The feel of the lens and build is fantastic and in this respect it's one of the best lenses I have.
I tried the Nokton f1.1 50mm M lens over the weekend and need to try the new Nokton f1.2 35mm M lens to see if any can replace this lens for me on the GXR.
After using the GXR for the last weeks it was not easy to go back to the GF1 in terms of handling and usability, also manually focusing with the GF1 is nowhere near as good as on the GXR.
Today, was a try to see if it's worth taking the GF1 with both or one of the lenses with me on my trip to Vietnam, Cambodia and Hong Kong. Right now I am not sure if it's worth to take along the GF1 for use with only the 7-14mm lens when needed.

Behind the Scenes
I had the chance to spend part of the day watching a location shoot for a promo and since I had the RD1 with me, I took a few pictures in between.

The Kiss by the River
GF1, f5.6, 1/640, ISO 100, JPG, 70mm (Voigtländer Nokton f1.4 35mm M)
I saw this while having a pint at the Cutty Sark pub in Greenwich and while the first instinct was to move closer and not show the window frame, I decided to include it instead since it made for a more interesting and somewhat voyeuristic picture.

Amsterdam Walk
Today, I had the pleasure to met up with friend and fellow blogger Björn Utpott in Amsterdam. Despite the changing weather between rain and sunshine we had a nice walk and a great conversation over a few pints.
It is always great to meet other photographers and not only talk about photography but also go out and practice it. Björn was kind enough to let me use his new Sony NEX camera with the 16mm pancake.
Instead of posting a mix between NEX and RD1 pictures, I decided to post the series today with only RD1 pictures and do a quick post of my experiences and pictures with the NEX tomorrow. Having two series also makes sense in terms of content, it will become more clear once you see the NEXt post.

LPMG Shoot The Band 06/2011
Tonight, I went along with the LPMG to shoot some concert footage of bands in Notting Hill. The bands playing were ANDY MITCHELL, ED LAURIE, BEATIE WOLFE, POSTMAN OPERA, FEEN, CUTHBERT 80 and burlesque from VERONICA VENUS.
It was a great opportunity to use the Nokton but I also took the Canon FD 50mm f1.8 along. It was not always easy to manually focus while keeping an eye on the shutter speed and follow the action to capture the right moment.
This series contains my best picture of each performance I have stayed for and is a mix between the Nokton and the Canon FD with ISO ranging from 400 to 3200 for the last picture.

Just a Rose
GF1, f2.0, 1/50, ISO 400, JPG, 50mm (Voigtländer Nokton f0.95 25mm)
Not a great picture but it was raining the whole day so I was not inspired. Instead I just wanted to see if I can edit a full-size picture from the GF1 on the iPhone 4 using Photoshop Express.
After importing it using the Photo Sync app, it opened just fine in Photoshop Express and although there was a bit of lag in all operations it handled processing it very well. Saving it was again no problem and it saved it at the actual resolution.
You can see the result on the top and the starting image below.

People and the Ferry
I have not taken the Staten Island ferry since the first time I came to New York in 2004 so I thought to take it again today. This is a series of pictures taken around my ferry trip back and forth to Staten Island.
The pictures are taken with the Canon FD and the Nokton.

Back to the Streets of NYC
After enjoying the peace and quiet in the mountains, I got back to New York today and took right to the streets. This is another series of people in New York becaus for me the people here are the most interesting part about New York.

Driving along the Mountains
Been doing some more driving around Colorado and decided to post another quick series. Pictures have been taken with the Nokton, the Panasonic 7-14mm and the Canon FD lenses.
For everyone who is bored of my mountain and landscape pictures by now, I will be heading back to New York on Saturday so there will be more people and street photography.

Colorado Landscapes
Colorado and the Pikes Peak area in particular are great for taking landscape pictures, this is why I have another series with landscapes. All pictures except the 2nd are taken with the Nokton.
