Enough of This?

GRD, f5.0, 1/400, ISO 400, JPG b&w
The title of this post is a bit of what I'm thinking right now regarding this blog. I can see some people still follow it but it's not as many as it used to be and I'm not sure if it's still the right thing for me to do.
It takes a lot of work to keep it updated and while I like to take photos every day, I'm just not sure blogging is the right platform for my photos overall.

The main reason I hesitate about stopping this blog is that I met some fantastic people all around the world through it.

I will have a think about what to do next as I am not sure about the interest, from both myself and of people reading this blog, is in continuing it.

Before I stop posting completely though there will be some posts I want to finish first. My Photokina 2014 report, which is still outstanding, and the full Ricoh GR review which I never finished and might come too late for most people by now.
Depending on time and what I decide the Photokina report will definitely be posted but the Ricoh GR review might have to stay unfinished although I want to post at least the RAW files for comparison.

Feel free to post your thoughts in the comments.

  1. Tough one.

Only you know the real answer. I for one always look forward to viewing your images.
    Really enjoyed the world tour.
You gave me the inspiration to attempt the photo a day blog thing. I lasted about a week.
it does indeed a lot of dedication to maintain the through put.
I am still using the Voight 35mm f1.4 I bought from you. Really good travel lens. Bought it to use on a GXR I now have it fixed on an M9.
I for one wish you well whatever you decide to do. But on a purely selfish note I would like you to continue..

    Jason

  2. I don't know if you get statistics on feed readers, but I view your photos almost daily, since 2008 :)

  3. Just had an idea, if the blog is time-consuming then how about auto-posting from flickr to blogger using something like ifttt.com?

  4. I share your pain, Cristi. Many's the time I have thought of bringing my photo blog to an end. It's not like it is visited by hundreds each day. But I just keep on keeping on and post each day has become part of my daily routine -- sad I know. But I have a feeling I would miss doing it if I stopped.

I have to admit, I haven't visited this site as often as I used to do, but I always make a point of checking out what has caught your eye -- today being a case in point.

Obviously, it is your call but if this blog were to end, I would miss it!

  5. Don't stop. Statistics doesn't say anything about the quality of pictures. Th number of readers are decreasing because blogging is a bit outdated. Viewers are hanging out at tumblr or instagram or even facebook might be a hipper place ... I notice that as well. But blogging is a nice way to show our pictures in an appropriate layout. Beside this, your postings are still very inspiring. And to let you know something personal: Your write ups about the Ricohs guided me into the world of digital photography.

  6. Keep it up and I'd love to see the GR review. This camera is so unknown among many but I'd take it over anything for street shooting. I appreciate what you do.

  7. Cristian,

I have been following you daily (or so) since 2008. I don’t have a blog or a website, but, inspired by you, I have a “Photo of the day” project which has been running now since 1 January 2009. I am retired, so no work pressures keeping me away from photography, but still it is sometimes very hard to get that picture of the day. Pushes me into a lot of evening walks. I would like you to carry on with your blog, I enjoy what you do, so here’s a suggestion: Make it a weekly blog instead of daily. Tell us where you have been and done and just show the best few pictures of the week.

  8. Change the format or means of posting - you need to decide what works best. If you stop posting, your photos will be missed!

  9. Thanks for all your comments!

It seems to be that everyone wants to continue seeing my photos and I think that's also the best for me since I do enjoy posting but need to find a quicker and easier way to post.

Thanks for your comment Jason and I'm glad my blog served as an inspiration but also that you're still using the Nokton 35mm lens you got from me.

Thanks Erik, it's great to see you've been following my blog for all this time. IFTTT is a great suggestion and I'll look into this to make posting easier.

Calvin, you're right that it's not visited by many but it's good to see you and the others who have posted still visit it. Like you said, it's a routine and I do enjoy posting although I'm also looking for something more interactive where I get more comments and can communicate easier with people.

Thanks for your comment, I'm glad me writing about Ricoh guided you in the world of photography. This and the other comments here mean a lot and shows that I did achieve more with this blog than I initially thought or set out to.

Thanks for your comment, the GR review will hopefully come soon as I already put in quite a bit of time and work to get the sample and comparison photos done.

Thanks for your comment Peter, glad ton hear that you're still reading and following my blog after all this time. I might change the posting format and make for quicker and easier posting without any text for most parts unless I have something to say.

Thanks for your comment and it's good to hear that people would miss my photos, this means I'll have to keep going on and will find the best way to do so.
