Tire

GXR A12-M, f2.8, 1/4000, ISO 200, RAW, 42mm (Ricoh GR f2.8 28mm L)

Took this while out for a walk enjoying the long overdue and finally arrived sunshine and warm weather.

Mother and Daughter

GRD IV, f1.9, 1/125, ISO 209, RAW

Took this while out for a walk around Greenwich, had again the GRD IV with me due to the small size and weight but also because the GRD I does not work with the Eye-Fi card.

Liked how they sat in front of the Window and were reading the leaflets, made for a nice calm picture.

Hopefully I can get my hands on a GR soon to try it out as the size would be perfect and of course the image quality will be way superior.

Transparent

GRD IV, f2.5, 1/125, ISO 80, RAW

Took this while having coffee at the Excel Center, had the GRD IV with me due to the small size and because it fits in a pocket without problems. Sometimes it's nice to be able to travel light and for this reason the GRDs are still great so can't wait to try the new GR.

Keep Your Head Down

GF1, f2.8, 1/640, ISO 100, RAW, 100mm (Canon f1.8 50mm FD)

Took this while out for a walk in between the rain showers today. Decided to take the GF1 out with the Canon 50mm FD lens, it was cheap but works great on the GF1.

Feathers

GXR A12-M, f4.0, 1/1150, ISO 200, RAW, 202mm (Jupiter-11 f4.0 135mm L)

Another nice and sunny day in London and a perfect bank holiday. Went for a walk to Greenwich park and decided to take the Jupiter-11 135mm lens with me, it was fun to use and it's a very sharp lens. I am more comfortable with wideangle lenses rather than telephoto but at times it's fun to play around with longer telephoto lenses.I will have to try some more bird photography with it in the coming days if the weather holds up.

Pink

Nexus 4, f0.0, 1/552, ISO 100, JPG

The weather has finally turned around and we had a warm and sunny day. Did not take that many pictures but used the Nexus 4 for some macro pictures. This is the one I liked most, I have processed it with the built in gallery app.

Candy

GRD IV, f2.8, 1/160, ISO 80, RAW

Took this during a walk around Greenwich. After the bad weather in the past week, today has been very nice and sunny so people were out and about.

Anchor

GRD IV, f1.9, 1/20, ISO 3200, RAW

Took this after having dinner and drinks at the Cutty Sark pub today.

Used the Eye-fi card to get the JPG and DNG files across to the Nexus 4 right after taking the picture and then processed the DNG using Photo Mate. Posted this at home from the Nexus 4 with the Chrome browser.
This whole work flow is great and I start to prefer it to using Windows. First, Photo Mate starts to become my favourite RAW developer and SwiftKey is so much better than even a physical keyboard that I find it difficult to type without it.

Spire

GRD IV, f5.6, 1/640, ISO 80, RAW

As you can see from my pictures I have spent quite some time at the O2 recently but having time and a cinema card means I have been around there a few times.

Took the GRD IV with me to test my new Eye-Fi SD card and see how well it woks, I used it yesterday in the GXR but since the GRD IV has built in support I wanted to see if there is any difference. So far it's great, mostly for the ability to finally have some (more or less accurate) geo-tagging in my pictures since it's something Ricoh has not implemented in any of their cameras. While it works fine in JPGs, DNGs don't have the data embedded so any RAW conversion loses the data but I guess it's better than nothing.

Some Colour

After all the grey in the past days, some more colour and some sunshine from today.

Decided to post a series to show some of the colour but most important to bid farewell to my Leica Elmarit-R f2.8 28mm lens which is for sale now on ebay. It is a fantastic lens but overlaps too much with my GR 28mm lens to be worthwhile keeping, it focuses quite close but this is not enough to keep it.

Greenwich Beach

GRD, f6.3, 1/640, ISO 400, JPG b&w

Another grey day in London, what's annoying is that now when I am home the weather is like this but when I was stuck in an office till 6pm it was nice and sunny. But on days like these I can go to the cinema and not feel like  miss out.

Took the GRD I again with me since the b&w images it produces seemed best suited for the grey sky today.

Monday 20 May 2013

The Whaf

GRD, f7.1, 1/800, ISO 400, JPG b&w, 21mm

Took this on my way back from the O2, had the GRD I with the 21mm wideangle adapter along. It's very nice to use and much smaller and lighter than I remembered. The b&w image quality is still impressive from the GRD I and has a character I have not seen in any other camera.

Looking at the Flowers

GXR A12-M, f2.0, 1/3500, ISO 200, RAW, 75mm (Jupiter-8 f2.0 50mm)

Took this while walking through Greenwich Park to meet friends for a BBQ, the weather was perfect to be outside today.

I decided to take the Jupiter-8 lens with me and get a different look to the pictures.

Saturday 18 May 2013

Saturday Blues

GXR A12-M, f4.0, 1/500, ISO 200, RAW, 42mm (Ricoh GR f2.8 28mm L)

Took this picture during a photo walk around London today. Liked how the guy just stood in his chair by the 'beach' and was singing and playing his guitar.

Friday 17 May 2013

Boat

GRD, f4.5, 1/400, ISO 400, JPG b&w

Another grey and rainy day so fitting to use the b&w mode on the GRD while taking a walk to the O2.

Thursday 16 May 2013

Holga Macro

Since my converted Holga lens only works for close up photography, I figured I take it out for a walk around Greenwich Park and use it for some flower macros. This is a small series with some pictures to give an idea of the lens 'quality'. I like it and it's fun playing with some unusual and fun lenses.

Wednesday 15 May 2013

AirLine

GRD, f6.3, 1/640, ISO 64, JPG

Took this during a walk around the O2, after the grey and rainy day yesterday it was quite nice today. I wanted to travel light and decided to take only the GRD I with me today. Unusual for me if you've been following my blog but I actually used it at ISO 64 and shot in color, found the scene required it.

Coming Soon

GXR A12-M, f8.0, 1/5, ISO 400, RAW, 42mm (Holga HL(W)-SSN f8.0 28mm NX)

It's been a grey and rainy day so I was not hugely inspired for photography, instead I finished my Hogs NX to M mount conversion but find that it needs some more work as it still does not focus to infinity.
Since it works fine for close ups, I decided to try it out and post a picture of my Zorki-4 camera with GR lens. This will be my kit for the next day trip to see how I get along with this.
This also shows the beauty of using old Leia screw mount lenses as these can be used without big problems on quite a wide range of cameras.

So this post is less about the picture but more about the gear in the picture and the one used to take the picture.

In the Square

GF1, f0.0, 1/8, ISO 100, RAW (Pinwide pinhole lens)

Took this on my way to the cinema today. Decided to play around some more with the Pinwide pinhole lens.

Sunday 12 May 2013

Pier View

GF1, f0.0, 3.2sec., ISO 100, RAW (Pinwide pinhole lens)

The day started off nice and sunny but by the time I got out it was cold and grey. I took the GF1 with me and used the Pinwide pinhole lens for some of my pictures.

Devil's Dyke Walk

Met with Tom in Brighton and drove to Devil's Dyke to do some hiking after lunch. The weather was mixed and we had some rain but it was a good day out nonetheless.
I decided to take my GR1 with me and shoot some film but film is not reliable enough so I needed a proper digital camera along so took the GRD IV with me.

This is a series from the walk, since it will be months till I get to see the film pictures these are the picture I took with the GRD IV and some with Tom's GXR and Leica Sumicron 50mm and my own Heliar 12mm.

2 @ Canary

GRD IV, f3.5, 1/320, ISO 80, JPG

Took this during a walk at Canary Wharf today. Decided to take the GRD IV along to travel lighter but still have the Surface with me to trial it in the field.

Thursday 9 May 2013

Three

GXR A12-M, f5.6, 1/290, ISO 200, RAW, 42mm (Ricoh GR f2.8 28mm L)

Took this picture at almost the same spot as yesterday's shot.

I have been using the Surface more now and start to get more used to it, it's very fast and the screen is fantastic but Windows 8 is not as good with touch as Android. Overall, you won't get far without a proper keyboard and have to use the pen a lot.

Wednesday 8 May 2013

Looking at me?

GXR A12-M, f2.8, 1/1230, ISO 200, RAW, 42mm (Ricoh GR f2.8 28mm L)

Took this during my lunch break, the guy did look in my direction but this makes the picture better in this case.

Tuesday 7 May 2013

Bridge by Dusk

GXR A12-M, f8.0, 1/2, ISO 200, RAW, 22mm (Voigtlander Heliar f4.5 15mm L)

Took this on my way to get dinner, I liked the light and colours.

I processed the picture and posted this from my new toy, the Microsoft Surface Pro, that is posed to replace my Macbook Pro. So far it works very well and the screen is very nice, a huge improvement over the Macbook Pro. One thing that is obvious early on is that Windows 8 still does not really work well without a physical keyboard and at times I wish for the small row of keys on either side of the screen like on my Samsung Q1 Ultra.
While having a full Windows computer in tablet format is great, I feel that for most tasks that require a touchscreen Android is actually nicer and more fluid to use. I also can't go back to any other on-screen keyboard after getting used to Swiftkey.

Still, it's early days and I only received it yesterday so need some time to set it up and make the most out of it. I believe the Surface Pro will make a great combination with my Nexus 7 and cover all my travel and computing needs.

Monday 6 May 2013

Leaving Holyhead

GXR A12-M, f8.0, 1/760, ISO 200, RAW, 42mm (Ricoh GR f2.8 28mm L)

Time to head back to London after a short trip away, the weather was great on the bank holiday weekend so it made the trip a lot more enjoyable.

Sunday 5 May 2013

Hiking in Holyhead

After getting back from Dublin, I decided to go hiking and see the South Stack Lighthouse near Holyhead. It's always a nice hike there and the views are fantastic.

This is a series from my hike, the pictures are a mix between the GR lens and Heliar 15mm lens.
