Merry Xmas and the Way Back to Hue

Merry Xmas to everyone and I hope you're enjoying your holidays!

Mine are coming to an end and it's time to head back to Hue.

After a stopover in Saigon, I arrived in Da Nang at around 19:00 and set off on my bike for the drive back to Hue.

The Batu Caves

In order to do something else and get a bit away from the main city center, I went to the Batu Caves today.

It's always quite interesting and vibrant to stop by there and the views are also quite nice.

It was not very busy and there was some rain but this made the visit quite enjoyable.

It's always nice to see a temple built into a cave as it provides for a great backdrop and the Batu Caves are very nice.

In KL

 `
It was another hot day in KL, despite that it was still nice to go for a walk and take some photos around.

After visiting some temples in Chinatown, I headed to KLCC where I did use the waterproof capabilities of my Olympus TG-4 to take a slightly different shot of the Petronas Towers.

The combination of Olympus TG-4 and Ricoh GR is great but I do wish the Ricoh GR would be waterproof and rugged so I would only need one camera.

In the evening it's nice to walk around the market on Petaling Street or the Central Market.

Evening Walk in KL

Walking around KL is always best at night because it's cooler, more people are out and there is a bit less traffic around.

Chinatown and Merdeka Square are quite nice areas to walk around.

There was a festival in Merdeka Square, or more precise two festivals combined. It was cool to see some traditional dances and costumes combined with Sci-Fi costumes and light saber battles.

It made for a very nice evening and it was fun to see everything and take photos, any events in Asia are usually very laid back and relaxed so it's easy to enjoy them. There just are less restrictions and regulations, it's more about having fun and a good time.

Chow Kit Walk

When I'm in KL, I always try to meet up with Bjorn, it's great to catch up and do some photography together.

Another thing I enjoy is that he knows a lot of the hidden places in KL that have a lot more charm but are not always easy to find in between all the new towers.

The kampungs are very interesting and make for a much nicer backdrop for photography than the more modern side of KL. The people there are also very friendly and always open for a chat or to strike a pose.

Another sight worth seeing in KL are the various markets, markets anywhere in the world are a great place for photography.

This time we went around Chow Kit and visited the market there, it's as colorful and vibrant as you would expect and well worth a visit.

Speaking of colors, this post is also dedicated to Bjorn's favorite color so see if you can figure it out.

It was a great day again and very nice to do some photography with someone and not on my own.
