Last Day in Saigon

Last day in Saigon was spent mostly taking it easy and getting my flight back to Hue sorted.

Saigon wasn't any more interesting after getting back and without a motorbike it wasn't easy to get around.

Instead of sitting around in my hotel, I decided to go to the cinema in the evening.

It was nice and a good way to spend the remaining time in Saigon although I'm looking forward to get out of here tomorrow morning.

Back to Saigon

After spending the night in Chau Doc it was time to head back to Saigon.

The distance was not too much but with my back, I had to take it a bit easy.

Since I didn't like Saigon much, I was in no rush to get back there and instead took  my time to arrive back there.

Although I planned to get there before it got dark, I decided to have dinner outside of Saigon and not worry about when I got there.

Phu Quoc to Chau Doc

Despite my back not being much better time ran out so I had to try and get back to Saigon in one day.

A long drive was not the problem but the ferry ride which takes 3h. I got there in the morning just before the ferry was due to leave only to realise I left my passport at the hotel.

This meant a 80km roundtrip over partially very bad roads to get it and get back to the ferry but doing so lost me 3.5h of the day, making it impossible to get to Saigon.

Once I accepted that, I looked for an alternative and Chau Doc was on the way and looked like a good place to stay the night.
While I couldn't go and explore the city and it's many nice temples properly because of my back, Chau Doc certainly looks like a place I would visit again. Maybe next time combined with a trip to Cambodia.

A Day at the Beach

My back got worse so I couldn't do too much but instead of being holed up in a hotel room for the day, I decided the beach will also do enough and maybe some swimming could be good for my back.

This also allowed me to take my Olympus TG-4 underwater for some photography.
Unfortunately it wasn't the most exciting beach for photos but great because it was almost deserted so I had a lot of space for myself.

Since I was already at the beach it made sense to wait and catch the sunset, too.

Overall it was a great day at the beach and nice to have the Olympus TG-4 along t take some photos.

A Day in Phu Quoc

Being in Phu Quoc, most people will probably head to the beach somewhere but I decided to take a drive around the southern part of the island and see more of the places and villages there.

The weather was nice but very hit and the roads were partly very good and partly very bad, it looks like nobody bothered to finish a single road on the island.

Still, it was nice to see some of the island and just drive around a bit.

Seeing the locals play card games and doing a bit of gambling is quite normal during Tet, this seems to be the only time when gambling is accepted.
