  2. Thanks for your comment!

I did not consciously go back to my basic working style, maybe it is the camera that inspires this style of working.

In a 'weak' moment I ordered a RD1 on ebay and own one of them myself now after using a friends RD1s before.

  3. Nice picture! Do you enjoy using the RD1? I would also like to try one of these if I find one. But they're hard to find and cost as much as a used m8!

  4. Thanks for your comment Heimo!

I do enjoy using the RD1 but wish it would have live view or a switchable EVF like the Fuji X100 at times. You can use it as a film camera without ever using the screen or menu so it's cool.

If you keep and eye on ebay and the classic photography stores you can find some at good prices but they don't come up that often. I prefer the RD1 to the M8 though even for the same price.

  5. thanks for your response!

wow, you prefer the rd1 to the m8?! (anything specific or just a "feeling" from using it? - I never used either one)

that's food for thought as I'm currently lusting for one...also for an x100...stupid camera-addiction...

and of course I'm also a big ricoh fan, which led me to your blog about a year ago :)

  6. Heimo, I just think the Rd1 is a better blend of a fully mechanical film camera with just a digital back. From my limited time with a M8 the Rd1 also feels more solid and more fun to use and the picture quality at high ISO seems better, too. But both cameras will be great if you like a digital rangefinder.

I am also looking at the Fuji X100 and if Fuji fixed the firmware I might end up with one. I am as addicted as you when it comes to cameras ;)

  7. sigh...just got the m8 :)

love it so far. I use it with a CV 40mm f1.4

The ergonomics *could* be better though, but it's a beautiful camera and fun to use nonetheless...

  8. Congratulations to your new camera Heimo!

I am sure you will enjoy it a lot and have a great lens for it, too.

Looking forward to see the pictures you get from it.

  9. ok since you mentioned it: here are my first shots ;)

    1st try

    2nd try

I really have to work on my street technique...but I totally love the 40mm - this lens really has some character!
