Clouds over the Barbican

The first outing with my newly acquired 15mm Heliar lens, it's still a fantastic lens and great to have it back. The LTM version also just looks very nice. Despite me selling off almost all my lenses, this one was a worthy purchase.

Kayak

It was a great day so I decided to go back to the Barbican for lunch. It's still the best place to go for lunch so it was very nice. Sitting outside in the sun it was a nice way to relax and it was quite warm.

Two Towers

Went after work to see a band playing at the Barbican for the London Jazz Festival, I took only one photo there and this is my photo for today.

Long Shadows

What's nice about this time of the year is the low hanging sun creating long shadows and nice light in the morning. While walking past the Barbican, the shadows caught my attention but I was missing someone walking past. A person always adds some life and more to a photo so I was glad hat after a short wait someone was actually walking across.

Music & Drama

I am not that often in the City at the moment and while I don't miss it that much, I do like the area around the Barbican.

Since I had to go to the City today, it was a good opportunity to walk around the Barbican for a bit and take some photos.

The Lost Posts - Part 1: Back in London

After finishing my travels around the world it has been difficult to get back to my daily posts and I also needed a break.

This doesn't mean I didn't take photos though or actually prepare photos to post on my blog.

Still, for one reason or another I never went back to them to actually post them.

So now, almost 2 years later, on the 17th September 2016, I am going to post these photos from my first day back in London after my rip around the world.

It was a weird feeling being back and in a lot of ways I didn't quite feel like I finished my trip but it still felt like just another stop on my journey.

Day in London

Another beautiful day in London and with the benefit of not having to work, it meant I could go around London to take some pictures and see some things I usually don't get round to.

Took the Heliar 12mm and the GR lens with me but the Heliar stayed on all the time, I like the wideangle it offers and shooting at f8.0 meant I only needed to worry about the framing.

This is a series of some pictures I took today from different parts of London, starting near Liverpool Street, passing by the Barbican, Regent Street, the Saatchi gallery, Battersea park, Chelsea Bridge with a view of my favourite building in London and finally a slightly abstract picture of the Southwark Cathedral. I have a lot more pictures and locations but these show best my day and the photography I have been doing.

Took this while out for lunch enjoying another nice and sunny day, I like the Barbican to both go there to chill at lunch but also to take pictures of the architecture.

Lost Emotions

Took this during my lunch break at the Barbican, if you work in the City of London the Barbican is the best place to go for lunch. It's either really chilled out and relaxing or you have something going on.

Ok, I can't go a whole week without taking pictures of people in the one or other way, this is more a details of the building but still a person needed to be in the frame.

Day Light

A very mixed day with snow, sunshine, rain and snow and sunshine at the same time. Took this on my way back from lunch, not a details of St. Paul's but I think it still kind of fits with the loose theme for this week.

Hall

In keeping with the orange theme a picture from the Barbican taken during my lunch break as usual. I like the orange wall and liked how the chairs were placed in front of the word 'hall'.

The Odd One

Took this while out for lunch and while I would have preferred to be closer and get a better shot of the Barbican, I think this works well enough with the more modern steel and glass buildings framing the Barbican tower block.

The Barbican might not have the prettiest buildings you will see in London but it has it's own character and look, at first sight it might not be different from one of the many (and very ugly) council estates but look closer and you see it's far off that.
