A-Wassailing
Springtime is near and today was a very nice early spring day with lots of sunshine. While out for a walk enjoying the nice weather I came across people singing in the park.
This was a group of people with the community garden project in Streatham blessing the Apple trees they just planted. They were following the old tradition of Wassailing.
It was great fun and people there were all in a good mood, singing and having a good time. I stuck around to take some photos and listen to the music. Having the GF1 and Canon 50mm FD lens with me meant I was struggling a bit to get everything in the frame but it also meant I could get some nice portraits.

Dessert
![]() |
GF1, f1.8, 1/160, ISO 3200, RAW, 100mm (Canon f1.8 50mm FD) |
While enjoying a pint and a wee dram at a local pub I took this photo of her enjoying the desert she got.
It's always a challenge of using the GF1 because it doesn't have a WYSIWYG live view but instead always gains it up and shows you a nicely exposed photo, this is very annoying. It is nice if you want to focus but then it should go back to show the actual exposure on the screen or at least the histogram when half pressing the shutter.

In London
![]() |
GF1, f2.8, 1/320, ISO 400, RAW, 56mm (Ricoh GR f2.8 28mm LTM) |
I've headed into town for some photography with the GF1 and the Ricoh GR lens. One of the biggest annoyances with the Panasonic GF1 after using the GR so much is that the screen doesn't show the current exposure and it doesn't lock it either on half press, this mans you never know if a photo is over or underexposed until you review it on the screen. Having no focus peaking also makes focusing somewhat challenging.

The Van
![]() |
GF1, f1.8, 1/60, ISO 3200, RAW, 100mm (Canon f1.8 50mm FD) |
After the sunshine from yesterday, it's been a grey and rainy day today. I didn't go out much or take many photos. When I looked out the window in the evening I saw this van parked across the street through the blinds and thought it would make a great photo. I liked the light reflected from the raindrops, the blinds obscuring part of the view and just the big white van next to the street light.

Fire
![]() |
GF1, f1.8, 1/250, ISO 3200, RAW, 100mm (Canon f1.8 50mm FD) |
There is some truth in the best camera is the one you have with you and it's always worth having a camera along as you never know what you come across. So happened this evening when I had the trusty, old GF1 with the even older Canon FD 50mm lens along and came across a fire.
Still, even better than having a camera along is to end a grey, cold and rainy Sunday with some great, live jazz music and a bottle of wine.

Pink Umbrella
![]() |
GF1, f1.8, 1/250, ISO 3200, RAW, 100mm (Canon f1.8 50mm FD) |
While out for a walk in a light shower I kept taking photos and came across two girls with umbrellas, one with a pink and one with a green umbrella. Unfortunately by the time I got close enough the one with the green umbrella walked inside so I only got the girl with the pink umbrella in my photo.

Crossing

GF1, f1.8, 1/250, ISO 3200, RAW, 100mm (Canon f1.8 50mm LTM) |
When going out for a walk and to do some shopping, I decided to take the GF1 with me and put the foggy Canon f1.8 50mm LTM lens on it for fun.
I switched to the b&w mode but when developing the RAW files and batch applying my profile over them some color remained even after dialing the saturation down. It must be a bug in RAW Therapee with my profile but I quite liked the effect so left it like this.

Sunny Sunday
![]() |
GF1, f8.0, 1/100, ISO 100, RAW, 50mm (Holga f8.0 25mm m4/3) |
After the mixed weather and rain yesterday, it was a great day with lots of sunshine and warm temperatures.
I had to get a few things done but managed to fit in a walk around Streatham Common.
Since I sold some more lenses and cameras on ebay, I took my GF1 and the (now sold) Holga lens with me for a last outing before shipping the lens off tomorrow.

Penguins
Took this photo while out for a walk in the evening with the Panasonic GF1 and the Canon FD 50mm lens. It's funny how using these old cameras again feels so different now, still it's nice taking them out every now and then and see if it's still worth keeping them around.

Keep Your Head Down
GF1, f2.8, 1/640, ISO 100, RAW, 100mm (Canon f1.8 50mm FD)
Took this while out for a walk in between the rain showers today. Decided to take the GF1 out with the Canon 50mm FD lens, it was cheap but works great on the GF1.

In the Square
GF1, f0.0, 1/8, ISO 100, RAW (Pinwide pinhole lens)
Took this on my way to the cinema today. Decided to play around some more with the Pinwide pinhole lens.

Pier View
GF1, f0.0, 3.2sec., ISO 100, RAW (Pinwide pinhole lens)
The day started off nice and sunny but by the time I got out it was cold and grey. I took the GF1 with me and used the Pinwide pinhole lens for some of my pictures.

Helicopter
GF1, f8.0, 1/4000, ISO 100, RAW, 290mm (Jupiter-11 f4.0 145mm L)
It's been a nice and sunny day but a few clouds moved past in the sky, I took this out of my window with the GF1 and the Jupiter-11. I wanted it more dramatic and used Snapseed to process it.

Daffodil
GF1, f8.0, 1/50, ISO 200, RAW, 50mm (Holga f8.0 25mm)
Decided to take my GF1 out again and use one of my toy lenses, it was a decision between the Holga lens or the Pinwide pinhole lens but in the end I decided to take the Holga. It was strange going back to the GF1 but it also showed me how slow the GXR is to respond at times compared with the much faster GF1.
It also reminded me to finish work on my Holga lens conversion for the M mount so I can use it on the GXR.
