A Rainy Day in Hong Kong
The day started and ended with rain but it was reasonably dry in between to go for a walk around Kowloon.
For this trip, I decided to take the Epson RD-1 and 28mm GR lens with me and only use tis combination, although I had the Ricoh GR as a backup camera along.
It took me a bit to get back into the flow of using the RD-1 and taking photos without being able to focus or frame accurately but soon I just preset everything and didn't think too much about the camera.
I really missed just walking around and taking photos, my recent 'street photography' has been done mostly from the back of a motorbike.
Hong Kong is one of the best places for street photography, next to maybe New York, Tokyo and London. There is always something going on and there are lots of people around.
I just kept walking and taking photos and almost forgot about eating or stopping to take a break.
In the evening I planned to go take photos around the night markets but the rain meant I decided to stick closer to the buildings and take photos around the hotel I stayed at.
The rain, neon signs and people with umbrellas combined with the unique image quality from the D-1 give the photos a great character and I ended up with more photos than I could post here.
It's been a great and very productive day in terms of photography and I certainly missed that despite loving being on a motorbike and enjoying the open road.

In a Rush

GR, f2.8, 1/125, ISO 6400, RAW |
People in London are always in a rush, especially during rush hour but it's always worst during rush hour on a rainy day. Everyone just darts about anywhere there is space on the pavements and roads, with and without umbrellas. I tend to stay away from this rush and take my time no matter if I'm running late or not, it's just not worth becoming part of the whole rat race. It also allows me to take photos of the other people so this is overall more enjoyable.

Pink Umbrella

While out for a walk in a light shower I kept taking photos and came across two girls with umbrellas, one with a pink and one with a green umbrella. Unfortunately by the time I got close enough the one with the green umbrella walked inside so I only got the girl with the pink umbrella in my photo.

Day 327 - Raining in Haeundae
Despite a dry morning, the rain returned and it was mixed for most of the day. This didn't matter too much since I decided to go surfing to Songjeong beach with a friend.

Day 31 - A Day of Rain
There had to be a day like this with bad weather, uninspired to take pictures and spending a lot of time in transport. The great thing about the day is that I met with Christian, a fellow Ricoh photographer and blog follower in Shanghai for dinner.
Waking up in the morning it was raining quite heavily so I waited a bit in the hope it might stop. After a while decided to head out anyway and see what I could do with the weather, it turned out that aside from getting wet there was not much to get out of this.
So I spent most of my last hours in Hangzhou at a cafe, having coffee and looking out in the rain.
Heading to Shanghai, I arrived in Hongqiao and had to make my way into the centre to meet Christian for dinner and also be closer to Shanghai main station to catch my train to Suzhou in the evening. The travel from Hongqiao took quite a while and was also during rush hour so not ideal.
The dinner however was great and is nice to have a chat with Christian about Ricoh cameras, photography and other things. A thanks here to Christian for the nice dinner and enjoyable chat.
This is something that I enjoy a lot and one of the best things that came out of me starting my blog. IT's always great to see the people commenting and reading my blog but also meet other like minded people.
So despite the rain and what turned out to be my worst photography day (in quality and quantity) on this trip, I had a great day overall.
