Sunny Sunday

GF1, f8.0, 1/100, ISO 100, RAW, 50mm (Holga f8.0 25mm m4/3)

After the mixed weather and rain yesterday, it was a great day with lots of sunshine and warm temperatures.
I had to get a few things done but managed to fit in a walk around Streatham Common.
Since I sold some more lenses and cameras on ebay, I took my GF1 and the (now sold) Holga lens with me for a last outing before shipping the lens off tomorrow.

Holga Macro

Since my converted Holga lens only works for close up photography, I figured I take it out for a walk around Greenwich Park and use it for some flower macros. This is a small series with some pictures to give an idea of the lens 'quality'. I like it and it's fun playing with some unusual and fun lenses.

Coming Soon

GXR A12-M, f8.0, 1/5, ISO 400, RAW, 42mm (Holga HL(W)-SSN f8.0 28mm NX)

It's been a grey and rainy day so I was not hugely inspired for photography, instead I finished my Hogs NX to M mount conversion but find that it needs some more work as it still does not focus to infinity.
Since it works fine for close ups, I decided to try it out and post a picture of my Zorki-4 camera with GR lens. This will be my kit for the next day trip to see how I get along with this.
This also shows the beauty of using old Leia screw mount lenses as these can be used without big problems on quite a wide range of cameras.

So this post is less about the picture but more about the gear in the picture and the one used to take the picture.

Daffodil

GF1, f8.0, 1/50, ISO 200, RAW, 50mm (Holga f8.0 25mm)

Decided to take my GF1 out again and use one of my toy lenses, it was a decision between the Holga lens or the Pinwide pinhole lens but in the end I decided to take the Holga. It was strange going back to the GF1 but it also showed me how slow the GXR is to respond at times compared with the much faster GF1.
It also reminded me to finish work on my Holga lens conversion for the M mount so I can use it on the GXR.

Stop

GXR A12-M, f8.0, 1/10, ISO 3200, RAW, 44mm (Holga HLW v1 f8.0 29mm)

This is the first try of my new Holga lens after I adapted it for M mount, the initial idea was good and it was quick to modify it by just filing down the old mount a bit. After screwing in a L to M adapter I had my new mount in place and the lens ready for use on the GXR.
This worked all well but for one 'small' issue with the distance between lens and sensor getting bigger by doing this so I ended up with a lens only usable for close focusing. Now I need to get this somehow closer to the sensor and then I should be all set to play around with the Holga lens.

Between the Darkness and Light

GF1, f8.0, 1/160, ISO 400, JPG b&w, 50mm (Holga f8.0 25mm)

I might have got a bit carried away with my eBay purchases recently but I always wanted to try a Holga lens on my GF1 and since they are very cheap on eBay it's worth getting one for fun. It is actually very good and I like he results.

iPhone Diary - Day 7

This is the last day of the iPhone week and I can conclude the following. As a camera the iPhone is probably at the bottom end of all current phones, as a phone is fares even worse, asa music player it suffers from the horrid iTunes and Apple restrictions but as a gadget, internet device, gaming platform and lifestyle device (plan your train/tube/bus jouneys, find restaurants etc.) it is fantastic and the best you can currently get. So overall it is through the great interface but better third party software that this is such a great device. I can fully recommend it if you want a MID but not if you are looking to buy a phone.

I edited today's picture with the free Polarize app.

iPhone Diary - Day 6

Taking pictures with the iphone is fun but the biggest problem is not the slippery surface, the shutter and AF lag and it is also not the pretty poor image quality. The biggest problem for me is to use a camera without EV compensation, I don't need full manual controls most of the time, A or P mode with EV compensation gives me everything I need. Not having it is quite a problem here.
I also gave up updating the blog using the iPhone, it is nice and does work but I can't rename my pictures and due to the lack of a Blogger application it is more hassle to update everything.
Today's picture has been edited on the iPhone using the new 'Lomograph' filter from the PhotoBox application.

iPhone Diary - Day 5

I tried a different processing with this picture to make it look a bit surreal and bosted the saturation.

iPhone Diary - Day 4

Before going out in the evening I already had my picture for the day but then it started raining and I took this picture. I really like it and after processing it slightly to make it look older it looks very good. This to me proves that having a camera with you at all times is the most important thing, no matter what the quality of the camera is.

iPhone Diary - Day 3

Took this picture on my way home, this time it's not edited at all but as it came from the 'camera'.
I have also tried the email posting through Blogger, uploading pictures works great but it does not yet pick up the text.

iPhone Diary - Day 2

I still haven't figured out how to upload photos directly from the iPhone. There is a free app for Wordpress but none for Blogger.
I have edited today's picture with the PhotoBox app on the iPhone, it is not quite as convenient to use as Mill Color but does not resize the images. The post is written and published on the iPhone though.
Other than the Lomo and Holga look and feel, I wanted the picture to look a bit like from the 70s with the same colors.
