Took this during lunch while enjoying a break outside in between the sunshine and rain that followed after. I had the GXR and GRD I with me but decided to use the GRD for the easier handling.
The GRD I b&w conversion and the way it captures images has never been replicated and I started to believe it was more an 'accident' due to the technical constraints when they developed the GRD I. Either this or whoever developed the JPG engine at that time left the company.
If it was due to the technical constraints then I hope to see something similar in the new GR with the APS sensor in such a small package.
I like the compositional simplicity of this shot but it is the clouds and the GRD I's b&w conversion that really make it stand out.
ReplyDeleteRicoh never did replicate the GRD I's marvellous ability to render b&w in subsequent versions, which is a pity.
Thanks for your comment Calvin!
