In My Head

This week will be all about the text mode. The text mode is one of the unique features in Ricoh cameras but not really advertised with by Ricoh and unknown to most people using Ricoh cameras. I will try to use the text mode for my usual pictures and see how it works and what results one can get out of it.
I will not provide any Exif information since it will be more or less useless here but if you want to see it let me know and I will add it.

  1. I never used the text mode, just never. But maybe I should try it too. And you are a tease, that Ricoh camera and text mode :D

  3. I really like it. Does text mode automatically give you this actual picture or do you need to "finetune" while shooting?

  4. Wouter, you should give the text mode a try, it can create some great effects and it's something different so fun to experiment with.
As for the camera, more and proper pictures will come soon. ;)

    Thanks James!

Thanks Robert! The text mode shows you a b&w picture on the screen but saves the picture like this once you take it. The only thing you can fine tune is the contrast between light, medium or dark.

  5. I discovereed text mode with a ricoh caplio GX8 on a trip in France. A world opened and the boring times in traveling in the car became so fun with this text mode-feature!!! Ricoh is amazing!! It's fun to be creative and experimental.
The text mode doesn't really work for real text in my experiments.
    Great pictures on your blog!

Like you, I think the text mode is fantastic and has so many uses to be creative but taking pictures of actual text is not one of them ;).
