Night Light

GRD, f2.4, 1/8, ISO 1600, JPG b&w, 21mm

This is another experimental picture where I see something that might not be very interesting at first but what I like. It is about finding a way to get a different view on things, trying to make something more out of an ordinary thing. Sometimes it works and sometimes it might not.

  1. What makes something into something ordinary or extraordinary is our judging mind in the end. I love the mood that you captured. Lovely B&W photograph.

    Best regards,

  2. Thanks Marco for your comment. You are right that it is us who make something into something ordinary or extraordinary.

  3. There you go making me think again. :)
To make the ordinary extraordinary the picture has to have

    1) a focal point of interest
    2) ambiguity

Probably requires a lot more, but its Monday morning and the old brain hasn't warmed up yet.

  4. Glad this post got you thinking, this is the good thing about visiting other people's blogs and looking at their pictures or reading their views on things.

The two points you mention sound good and are required. Maybe I should have a separate post on this and collect opinions as to waht makes a ordinary and what an extraordinary picture.

  6. This is true Wouter, if you take pictures of things you always try to make more of something ordinary.
