Took this picture while out for a walk during lunch today. Liked the scene with the kids climbing on the Millennium bridge. Cropped it to 16:9 to get more impact from it.
Before I took this picture I ran across a Korean Girl with a Ricoh GRD I and 21mm extension lens mounted on it. I looked at her and smiled and she smiled at me once she saw my GRD. This always happens if you come across people with GRDs and sometimes GX cameras and is the advantage of using a niche camera :).
The bridge looks pretty high up. When I was young, I could do something like that. Those were the days.
ReplyDeleteI like the facial expression of the kid.
I believe I'd have similar feeling when I see someone holding a GRD. When a colleague of mine showed me her new GX200, I rushed to another colleague and get his GRD and GX100. I placed them all with my GRDII on my desk and took a picture of the family enthusiastically. I don't know why. Maybe it's the charisma from Ricoh cameras, especially GRD.
Its the same with the Canon G9 - a sense of comradeship.
ReplyDeleteSee you got a G9. What do you think about it? . . .
At the time I bought the G9 I was going to buy a Ricoh, but drreview.com didn't give a good review.
Perhaps next time. :)
The bridge was quite high but the part where they were climbing around was not too high up or her mother would have panicked ;).
ReplyDeleteHis expression was the reason I chose this picture.
There is something about the Ricohs that has a special appeal.
Yesbut, the review from dpreview was fair and the conclusions correct but only from a technical point of view and not from a user point of view. I am glad I decided to buy it over the Fuji F30 before reading the review. Although having held it in a shop was enough to make me buy it no matter how bad the camera would have been reviewed ;).
As has been said before, lovely expression on the kids face. He has "GUILTY" written all over his face.. ;-)
ReplyDeleteYou are so righ about the feeling when holding the Ricoh´s..My poor LX2 has been relegated to exile since GX arrived...
Erik.
Thanks for the comment Erik.
ReplyDeleteYou are right and the fact that Ricoh are doing so well with their serious compact cameras is primarily the feel when holding and using the cameras. They just feel right and you want to go out and take pictures.
