Sparkling Diamonds

GRD, f3.5, 1/640, ISO 400, JPG b&w

We have a bank holiday today so this automatically means that the weather is bad. While it's not raining it is grey and dull. So while taking a walk I came across this and decided to take an abstract picture. Added some vignetting, increased the contrast and sharpened it. Had a color version but while I changed the colors slightly the colors would give away easier what it is.
The noise in ISO 400 pictures from the GRD I is great, especially in black and white and when overexposing the image slightly. Underexposing causes a different noise pattern but a correct exposure or slight overexposure plus some USM gives a very nice grain like noise.

  1. Is it a smashed windscreen or ice?

  2. The former, a smashed windscreen. But in b&w and with the high contrast it looks almost like ice cubes.
