Day 284 - Singapore around Marina Bay

After a reasonably comfortable flight, where I didn't get much sleep, the plane landed in Singapore in the morning.

After a smooth and painless immigration procedure, I got to my hotel to leave the bag and go out for a stroll to Marina Bay.

At first look Singapore feels a lot like Kuala Lumpur but a bit more international. It's certainly nice but seems to lack a bit of character.

Walking around Marina Bay, everything is modern, clean and well maintained. It's a nice place to hang out when the weather is nice.

The weather was quite mixed with a grey starts, then some rain, sunshine, more clouds and finally sunshine to end the day.

It was a nice walk around and I enjoyed my first day in Singapore but need to see some of the other areas to really get a feel for the place.

  1. Good to see you back on the road again, Cristi.

Enjoyed these shots of Singapore and the futuristic architecture. One can sense that it appears to lack soul but it is early days yet and am sure you will more in the way of character as you explore the city.

  2. Thanks for your comment Calvin and for continuing to follow my travels!

Singapore has some nice architecture but the soul is still missing a bit.

  3. this is such serendipity. just got myself a used Ricoh GRD 1 and searching best BnW settings for it and chanced upon your comments on DPreview - and link to your site here - and how great that i see you've just visited and left Singapore, the place i call home. my previous job was at Gardens by the Bay too so this is all very cool. i wish you well!

P.S. I keep a photo narrative space of sorts at http://lupcheong.exposure.co/ as well, just thought i'd share because these fortuitous things don't happen too often (:

I hope you enjoy your Ricoh GRD I, it is indeed a very unique camera and the b&w is just great.

It is indeed a cool coincidence that I have just been to Singapore and spent quite a bit of time in the Gardens by the Bay.

I had a look at your website and like your photos so will like to it to check regularly.
